Raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Kelly began her career at a young age, performing internationally with the Vancouver Youth Theatre, and breaking into the world of voiceovers on shows such as My Little Pony Tales, Ranma ½ and Madeline, where she had the opportunity to work with both Christopher and Amanda Plummer.
She received her formal theatre training at Simon Fraser University, graduating in 2001. Memorable roles whilst at SFU include Eurydice in Eurydice Plays Dead, Bella in Big Love and the 1999 Black Box ensemble. During this time, Kelly first appeared as Barbie in Barbie in the Nutcracker with Tim Curry. To date, she has played Barbie in 15 of Mattel’s movies, including Barbie Fairytopia, Barbie My Scene and Barbie Diaries. She has had the pleasure of sharing the screen on Barbie projects with Angelica Houston, Kelsey Grammer, Martin Short, Katherine O’Hara and Andrea Martin.
After graduating, Kelly worked with numerous theatre companies in Vancouver, playing Anna in Tempest in a Teacup’s Revolutions, Fabian in Shifting Point’s musical production of Twelfth Night and Sara in Stop Kiss at Festival House. She also continued to voice such roles as Sango in Inuyasha, the Scarlet Witch in X-Men Evolution and Diana Lombard in Martin Mystery.
In 2004, Kelly began working as a guest artist with Genus Theatre and performed in two productions, City at Night and Ten Years Later, before becoming a member of the company in 2005. Genus’ subsequent show, Caught in the Act, toured to the Victoria Fringe Festival, as well as on home turf at the Vancouver Fringe Festival. To this day Kelly continues to work as part of the Genus ensemble, where all company members write, direct, and perform. Info about their most recent projects can be found at www.genustheatre.com.
Presently, Kelly continues to make a name for herself in the voiceover world with roles in the Barbie movies, My Little Pony, Care Bears, Class of the Titans, Gundam 00, A Kind of Magic, Hero 108 and numerous other productions.
